The Welshman was reportedly left “completely distracted” by his pet’s mysterious disappearance

Aaron Ramsey is back on the free agent market after he terminated his contract with Mexican side Pumas, according to reports.

The former Arsenal and Juventus midfielder joined the Mexico City-based side on a one-year contract in July after ending a three-year spell at boyhood club Cardiff City, but never quite got his Liga MX career off the ground.

He made just six appearances in his three months with the club, scoring once as he struggled to stay fit.

His nightmare stay was compounded this month by the loss of his beloved family dog, Halo.

According to ESPN, Ramsey was “completely distracted” by Halo’s disappearance, forgoing international duty in October and neglecting to report for training in order to search for her.

Ramsey, who has won 86 senior caps for Wales, has launched a huge social media campaign to track down his pet, offering a £15,000 reward for her safe return.

In a heartfelt appeal on his Instagram page, Ramsey wrote: “What I’d do to hold you one last time Halo.”

Ramsey leaves Pumas mired in 13th in Liga MX, with just three wins from 15 matches.

His next steps are not yet known, though it is thought that he hopes to move into management after calling time on his playing career.

Ramsey spent a brief spell as caretaker manager at Cardiff earlier this year, failing to win any of his three matches in charge.

That brief tenure included a 4-2 thrashing at the hands of Norwich City, then managed by his former Arsenal team-mate Jack Wilshere, who is now head coach at Luton Town.
