Abel Ferreira criticised his second-half sending off during Palmeiras’ 1-0 victory over Corinthians at Neo Química Arena on Sunday.

According to Globo.com, the head coach felt the call was harsh after referee Raphael Claus issued two yellow cards in quick succession, with the dismissal coming 35 minutes into the second half.

Ferreira said he had merely pointed out repeated fouls on Andreas and argued for consistent decisions, citing a challenge by a Corinthians full-back on Vitor Roque that did not bring a booking, while Maurício was cautioned at the first attempt. He added that the official was some distance away and that he must respect the decision, noting he felt unable even to gesture.

The dismissal was recorded for dissent followed by ironic applause after an initial caution.

Ferreira will be suspended for next Sunday’s match against Guarani at 20:30, Brasília time, the final round of the Campeonato Paulista group stage. Palmeiras are already through to the knockout phase.
