Abel Ferreira was honoured in Portugal with the Prémio Reconhecimento Internacional for his successful spell in charge of Palmeiras. According to Nosso Palestra, he received the award, granted by Liga Portugal, at the fourth edition of the Grande Gala do Futebol Profissional.
The accolade recognises personalities whose work and achievements significantly impact professional football and leave an international mark.
The recognition comes at a notable moment in his career. Since taking over in October 2020, he has become the most decorated coach in Palmeiras' history, recently lifting a fourth Campeonato Paulista to reach 11 trophies.
His haul includes two Copa Libertadores, two Campeonatos Brasileiros, one Copa do Brasil, one Supercopa do Brasil, one Recopa Sul-Americana and four Campeonatos Paulistas, helping make Palmeiras one of South America's most successful sides.
Unable to attend the ceremony, Ferreira sent a video message of thanks. The prize was accepted on his behalf by Hugo Cajuda, CEO of FIA Football & Management.
