Aberdeen have sold out their Scottish Cup allocation before Celtic have released ticketing information. The Pittodrie club fought for a larger allocation at the National Stadium for the game later this month, a move that was secured after the Aberdeen hierarchy agreed to underwrite their ticket sales.
This gambled paid off after their 20,000 allocation was sold out within ours of going on sale. In an update on Twitter, Aberdeen confirmed the news.
It remains to be seen whether it will amount to a 50/50 split or whether the upper tier in the South Stand will be kept back from Celtic supporters. However, a Cup Final should always be as close to an even split as possible. The issue for many is that Aberdeen did not bring a large following to their Cup Semi win over Hearts but have been able to claim a larger allocation that will see non-match-going fans attending in place of Celtic fans that go weekly.
It is somewhat surprising that Aberdeen have had their tickets announced, on sale and sold out before Celtic have made any announcement. However, Aberdeen will have wanted all the time they could get to ensure that they sold out their allocation. Celtic fans meanwhile will be eager for updates as they look to book their place at Hampden for the chance to see Celtic compete for a Treble.
Celtic supporters will be nervously awaiting news from the ticket office regarding the Cup Final. There are social media fears that a number of fans will miss out due to increased interest, meaning hospitality tickets can be sold more easily. Ticket prices have been frozen from last season, meaning Adult tickets are charged at £40 to £50, to £25 to £30 for Under-16s and Over 65s.
