Ruben Amorim is targeting yet another of his former Manchester United players, with the new AC Milan manager identified as an admirer of Noussair Mazraoui following the right-back’s displays for Morocco at the 2026 World Cup.
The interest is reported by journalist Matteo Moretto, who is clear that admiration has not yet translated into action – no negotiations are underway and there has been no direct contact between the clubs.

“Noussair Mazraoui is one of Amorim’s favourites. As of now there are no negotiations underway, there’s no direct contact between the clubs. But what I can tell you is that certainly Mazraoui, who is 28 years old and also has a contract expiring in 2028 with an option, is a player highly regarded by Amorim. Let’s see if he is targeted by Milan later in the window. As of today, I’m talking about the manager’s approval of him – Amorim appreciates Mazraoui’s qualities.” – Matteo Moretto

This is the third United player Amorim has circled since taking charge at AC Milan. Manuel Ugarte was the first target, with a reunion that made obvious sense given their shared history at both Sporting CP and Old Trafford – that move collapsed after Ugarte picked up a World Cup injury. Amorim then turned his attention to Amad, only for Michael Carrick to shut that down immediately, with Amad himself uninterested in a return to Italy.
Mazraoui is the latest name on that list. The Moroccan joined United from Bayern Munich in August 2024 and holds a contract through June 2028, with an option for a further year – terms that give INEOS real leverage in any negotiation.

From a squad-management perspective, Mazraoui’s value to United is straightforward. His World Cup performances for Morocco underscored his capacity to operate at left-back as well as his natural right-back role – useful cover for the still-absent Luke Shaw across four competitions this season.
The primary source notes that the only realistic route to a departure runs through INEOS deciding to reinforce at full-back, with links to Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Ryerson persisting in the background. Until that decision is made, Mazraoui has every reason to stay, and United have every reason to keep him.
Amorim’s admiration is on record. Whether Milan are willing to test INEOS’s resolve with a formal bid later in the window is the question that now hangs over this one.
