Rasmus Hojlund is nearing an exit from Manchester United following Benjamin Sesko’s arrival.

The Dane endured a frustrating last campaign as United’s number nine, failing to get on the scoresheet on a regular basis. He ended the season with just four Premier League goals to his name.

Hojlund returned to pre-season with a point to prove, and looked promising in friendly fixtures. Ruben Amorim even praised the striker for his brilliant performance against Bournemouth in Chicago.

Still, the United head coach stopped short of offering any guarantees over his future at Old Trafford. A few days later, United secured the services of Sesko from RB Leipzig. The Slovenian is expected to be Amorim’s first-choice striker.

AC Milan are working on Hojlund deal

Sensing the opportunity, AC Milan knocked on United’s door in their bid to strengthen Massimiliano Allegri’s attack.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Milan “keep advancing” on a deal for Hojlund with United.

The Italian journalist claims that a €6m loan fee and a €45m buy option are being discussed by the two clubs, who are now nearing an agreement.

Hojlund’s latest stance on Milan transfer emerges

Just over a week ago, Hojlund insisted he wanted to stay at the club and fight for his place under Amorim.

However, Romano now reveals that Hojlund is “opening doors” to a switch to San Siro.

Amorim kept the Denmark international on the bench against Fiorentina, opting to place his trust in attacking midfielder Mason Mount to lead the line instead.

Recently, Milan’s former manager Arrigo Sacchi took aim at Hojlund for showing reluctance to join the Serie A giants. “He must want to come to Italy, and not throw tantrums,” Sacchi told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Despite his underwhelming spell at United, the 22-year-old is not short of suitors, with Newcastle United also thought to be keeping an eye on his situation.
