  1. Date: 23rd September, Tuesday.
  2. Kick-off: 8pm BST.
  3. Venue: San Siro, Milan.

AC Milan Team News

Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri faces several injury concerns ahead of this fixture. Goalkeeper Mike Maignan continues his recovery from a calf injury sustained against Bologna and remains doubtful.

However, recent reports suggest he may return for this Coppa Italia tie, with Allegri confirming “Maignan is doing well and will be back in goal for the match against Lecce on Tuesday”.

Rafael Leao remains sidelined with a persistent calf injury and is not expected to return until the crucial Serie A clash against Napoli on September 28. Ardon Jashari continues his long-term rehabilitation from a compound fracture of the right fibula sustained in training.

In the absence of Europe, Allegri has identified the Coppa Italia as a primary objective for this season. The Milan coach is expected to rotate his squad for this fixture, with summer signing Samuele Ricci potentially earning his first start.

Christopher Nkunku may also feature prominently as he seeks to establish himself in Allegri’s plans. The Rossoneri are likely to field their preferred 3-5-2 formation, with Santiago Gimenez leading the attack alongside either Nkunku, Christian Pulisic or Ruben Loftus-Cheek. In midfield, Luka Modric may be rested in favour of Ricci and other rotation options.

Lecce Team News

The visitors face their own injury challenges, with Filip Marchwinski sidelined after suffering an ACL tear and a meniscus laceration. Coach Di Francesco will also be without several other players due to various minor injuries. Gabby Jean is also out until mid-October at the very least.

For Lecce, this represents a chance to build confidence and potentially cause an upset against their more illustrious opponents. With their Serie A form in question, a positive result could provide the psychological boost needed for their relegation battle.

Form

AC Milan

Milan arrive at this fixture in excellent form, having won their last three matches without conceding a single goal after they suffered a shock defeat to Cremonese in the opening league fixture of the season. Milan currently sit in 3rd position in the league table.

Lecce

Lecce, managed by Eusebio Di Francesco, has endured a challenging start to the season and currently sits at the bottom of Serie A with just one point from four matches.

Their most recent result was a 2-1 defeat to Cagliari, despite taking an early lead through Tiago Gabriel. The Salentini will be desperate to use this cup fixture as an opportunity to build momentum.

Predicted Lineups
