Stockport County forward Adama Sidibeh has shared a message with Hatters fans on social media amid links with QPR and Bristol City.

It was a disappointing afternoon for Stockport County as they were beaten by Bolton Wanderers in the League One play-off final at Wembley on Sunday.

After securing a third-placed finish in the regular season, Stockport booked their place in the play-off final with a comprehensive 3-0 aggregate victory over Stevenage in their semi-final.

The final got off to the worst possible start for the Hatters as Corey Addai's error allowed Ruben Rodrigues to give Bolton the lead in the third minute, but Dave Challinor's men responded well to their early setback, and after having previously had a goal disallowed, Adama Sidibeh headed home a 29th-minute equaliser.

However, the Trotters took control of the game in the second half, with Kyle Wootton's own goal and Sam Dalby's delightful strike giving them a two-goal lead, and Rodrigues added the fourth from the penalty spot in stoppage time after Josh Dacres-Cogley was shown a red card for pulling Ibrahim Cissoko's hair in the box.

It has already been confirmed that Stockport CEO Simon Wilson will be leaving the club this summer, with a move to Sheffield Wednesday believed to be imminent, but after missing out on promotion, the Hatters may need to brace themselves for further high-profile exits.

Stockport may have fallen short of promotion at Wembley, but it seems goalscorer Sidibeh could still be on his way to the Championship.

After spells in non-league with the likes of AFC Blackpool, Cheadle Heath Nomads and Warrington Rylands, Sidibeh joined Scottish side St Johnstone for just £20,000 in February 2024, and he scored 18 goals and provided eight assists in 80 appearances during a productive spell at McDiarmid Park.

Sidibeh's impressive form north of the border convinced Stockport to pay a fee of £150,000 for the 27-year-old in the January transfer window, and he made a big impact at Edgeley Park, scoring 10 goals in 25 appearances in the second half of the season, including his side's equaliser in the play-off final.

It seems that Sidibeh's performances for the Hatters have not gone unnoticed, and as FLW exclusively revealed on Tuesday, the Gambia international is on the radar of Championship trio Queens Park Rangers, Bristol City and Swansea City ahead of the summer transfer window.

As speculation gathers pace about his future, Sidibeh took to social media to reflect on Stockport's Wembley defeat, writing on Instagram: "Not the end of season we hoped for but I am incredibly proud of all of us .Thank you to all the amazing fans for your support".

After their latest Wembley heartbreak, Stockport will be determined to rebuild and secure promotion to the Championship at the third attempt next season, but it could be a difficult summer at Edgeley Park.

The Hatters have plenty of highly-rated assets in their squad, but after his explosive form since his January arrival, it appears they could be most vulnerable to losing Sidibeh as interest from second tier clubs begins to emerge.

As they look to launch another promotion push, Stockport will be reluctant to sell Sidibeh this summer, and with the forward under contract until the summer of 2028, they are in a strong negotiating position, but it could be tough for them to turn down any sizable bids and deny him the chance to play in the Championship.
