AS Monaco face Manchester City on Wednesday night in the UEFA Champions League. They will do so having to manage a long injury list.

Monaco’s midfield is heavily depleted. Adi Hutter confirmed that Lamine Camara, Denis Zakaria, Aleksandr Golovin, and Aladji Bamba are all out; Paul Pogba is not yet fit, either. It leaves the Austrian scrambling for options. Against FC Lorient, he played right-back Jordan Teze and the highly inexperienced Mamadou Coullibaly.

Maghnes Akliouche also missed last weekend’s defeat to Lorient, but he has now recovered from illness and could play, perhaps in a No.8 role, an idea that Hutter did not reject in Tuesday’s press conference, attended by Get French Football News.

As well as the absences in midfield, there are also the absences of Lukas Hradecky and Christian Mawissa to manage. Paris Brunner, ineligible to play in the Champions League, also missed Tuesday morning’s training session. Hutter confirmed that the striker had sustained a minor injury, but it is hoped that he will be fit to face OGC Nice on Sunday.
