Luis Advíncula’s sudden departure has opened the door for Lucas Blondel at Boca, in a window with no signings announced.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the 35-year-old agreed a mutual contract termination with the board led by Juan Román Riquelme. He had begun pre-season and had chosen to stay despite offers from Peru.
With Advíncula gone, Blondel could get a second chance under Claudio Úbeda. While the coach favours Juan Barinaga, the former Tigre defender would be the first alternative and, with increased competition, is likely to get minutes.
Blondel had been out of favour and was close to joining Argentinos Juniors. Tigre asked for him on loan, and Racing showed interest in buying his rights.
His situation now changes, and he could stay, otherwise Boca would need to recruit another full-back to compete with Barinaga. There is also an idea to involve Dylan Gorosito, a reserve graduate who has earned consideration for a first-team chance.
Advíncula, who had a year left on his deal, asked to leave for personal reasons. He gave up financial benefits to prioritise continuing his career in Peruvian football, departing after four and a half years.
The club moved quickly to complete the termination, viewing it as a chance to shed a high salary from a player who was not a priority. Paperwork has been signed, he has said goodbye at Ezeiza, and all indications are that Alianza Lima would be his next club on a three-year contract.
