Benfica are close to agreeing a new deal with José Neto, with the process largely complete and only formalities remaining. According to Glorioso 1904, the extension could be finalised in the coming weeks.
The club intend to tie him down until 2031, mirroring Daniel Banjaqui's renewal. The signing is likely to follow after 19 April, when Neto turns 18 and becomes eligible to commit long term.
Neto has already made his first-team debut. He is under contract until 2027 with a release clause of 30 million euros, and Benfica appear keen to further protect one of their academy prospects.
José Mourinho has been instrumental in these processes. Beyond financial terms, the youngsters sought assurances of their place in the sporting project in the short, medium and long term, and regular involvement with the senior squad has reinforced that belief.
In the 2025/26 campaign, Neto, valued at three million euros, has played 28 official matches across the under-19s, under-23s, B team and first team. He has totalled 1,893 minutes, scoring one goal and providing four assists.
