Jonathan Tah is looking forward to his first season with FC Bayern with great confidence. The national team player made it clear that the record champions want to build on last season’s success—and sees the exceptional team spirit, above all, as the key to further success.
With the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund, the first competitive match of the new season is fast approaching. The Munich team is currently on its Audi Summer Tour in South Korea and Hong Kong, where the squad is putting the finishing touches on its preparations for the new season.
For Jonathan Tah, the plan is clear.
In an interview with Sky, the center back emphasized that FC Bayern wants to consistently continue on the successful path of last season. “We want to pick up where we left off last season. We all felt that it was a very special season,” Tah explained.
In the 29-year-old’s view, the success was no fluke. Rather, it was the result of hard work from the very first day of preseason training.

Tah was particularly impressed by the team’s cohesion. Especially during difficult phases, the team’s mentality paid off.
“That’s because we worked hard on ourselves from day one and gave it our all in every single game. Even when things didn’t always go perfectly, smoothly, or according to plan, we always managed to stick together as a team and create an atmosphere that made us feel like we could achieve anything.”
For Tah, it’s therefore clear where the focus must lie in the coming months. “That’s exactly what we need to build on.”
The national team player’s comments underscore FC Bayern’s ambition to compete for every title again in the new season following their double victory. With the Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund, the Munich side will have their first opportunity to bring the next trophy back to Munich as early as August 22.
