Agents of £120k-a-week Man Utd man now ‘in talks’ with last season’s Champions League finalists

Andre Onana’s agents are ‘in talks’ over a potential return to Inter Milan when the goalkeeper inevitably parts ways with Manchester United this summer.

Despite being contracted to the Red Devils until 2028, it’s widely anticipated that the goalkeeper’s tenure at Old Trafford will draw to a close after three years.

Reports have suggested Onana would be keen to try and revive his United career and reclaim his No.1 spot from Senne Lammens. However, it’s undoubtedly becoming clearer to him as the campaign progresses, and Lammens finds his feet more, that the chances of that happening are as good as impossible.

That perhaps explains why the Cameroonian’s team are now putting plans in place for his next move. Chris Wheeler of Mail Sport has confirmed this afternoon that his representatives are in Milan to gauge the feasibility of him rejoining the club at the end of the season.

Inter have identified their former shot-stopper as a potential replacement for 37-year-old Yann Sommer, having been pleased with Onana’s performances throughout his year at San Siro.

In the 2022/2023 term, when Onana had just moved from Ajax to the Serie A giants, he played a vital role in Inter winning the Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana and reaching the Champions League final, where they were narrowly defeated 1-0 by Manchester City.

Before the tie, Pep Guardiola had actually singled out Onana as Inter’s most dangerous player and hailed him as ‘exceptional’.

The 29-year-old is currently on loan with Trabzonspor until June after falling entirely out of favour at United. When he does report back to Old Trafford upon the culmination of his spell, it’ll likely be just to discuss his exit.
