Agreement 'close' for Newcastle to sign Johan Manzambi

Newcastle United are reportedly close to finding an agreement to sign Switzerland international Johan Manzambi.

The 20-year-old has been the star player for Switzerland at the World Cup, scoring three times and making two assists from his four appearances in the competition so far.

According to journalist Keith Downie of Sky Sports News, the Magpies are 'close' to an agreement for Manzambi who SC Freiburg value at around €60 million (approx £51 million).

However, there is still time for things to change with the player yet to decide on where he wants to end up next season with his recent performances drawing interest from other clubs.

Newcastle will need to continue investing this summer after having lost key players Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this summer with Bruno Guimarães also linked with a summer exit.
