Apparently everything has now been settled: Manuel Neuer will extend his contract with FC Bayern. According to a report, an agreement has already been reached – including a pay cut for the Bayern captain
FC Bayern and Manuel Neuer are apparently on the verge of signing the next contract extension
As reported by Sky, both sides have now agreed on a new one-year contract, which will keep the 2014 world champion at the record champions until at least the summer of 2027
Particularly noteworthy: according to the report, Neuer has accepted a pay cut as part of the extension
According to the report, the contract should even be officially signed before the Bundesliga match against 1. FC Köln on Saturday if possible
The BILD podcast„Bayern Insider“ had previously reported that the announcement of the extension could be made soon
Apparently, a presentation around FC Bayern’s championship celebrations is also on the cards. On Saturday, the Munich club will officially receive the championship trophy in the Allianz Arena after the last Bundesliga match of the season, followed a day later by the traditional celebration on the Rathausbalkon on Munich’s Marienplatz
An official extension of Neuer’s contract would fit in perfectly with this setting, as the 40-year-old continues to be held in high regard internally, and despite several injury phases in recent years, Neuer has shown several times this season that he can still perform at the highest level
Vincent Kompany in particular is said to value the goalkeeper as an important leader within the team
On a personal level, Neuer is also still regarded as a central figure in the FC Bayern dressing room
At the same time, Munich are continuing to work on a long-term change in the goalkeeper position

Jonas Urbig is still seen internally as a potential successor to Neuer and is set to receive significantly more playing time in the coming season
The 22-year-old has already played 17 competitive matches for Bayern this season
With the extension, the Munich club is apparently continuing to consciously focus on a controlled transition – with Neuer as an experienced leading player and Urbig as a future solution in the background.
