Ainsley Maitland-Niles suffers injury scare in OL quarter-final, Paris FC place in doubt

Lyon suffered a fresh injury setback as Ainsley Maitland-Niles went off during their Europa League quarter-final.

According to Le Progres, the right-sided defender first sat down in discomfort, then in the 69th minute, moments after Yaremchuk reduced the deficit, he was replaced by Hateboer.

OL are already without attackers Sulc, Moreira, Fofana and Nuamah, as well as Ruben Kluivert, who covered that role earlier in the season.

Further examinations are expected tomorrow and his starting spot could change for Sunday night’s home meeting with Paris FC. With six matches still to play before 22 March, OL may now be without him.

Paulo Fonseca said his side worked hard at 0-2 and still finished the game better, adding that Maitland-Niles appears to have an adductor issue and that more will be known soon.
