Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s expected departure from FC Barcelona has hit further delays, with Ajax reportedly beginning to lose patience as they wait for the goalkeeper’s loan move to be completed.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona, Ajax and Ter Stegen had already reached an agreement over the loan and the distribution of his salary. However, unresolved fiscal details have prevented the operation from being finalised.

The situation has now dragged on considerably longer than initially expected. Barca believed last week that the transfer was only days away from being completed, but final approval has still not arrived.

The report says Barcelona maintain that there is little more they can do at this stage. The remaining economic issues must reportedly be resolved by Ter Stegen and his camp, although the Catalan club remain confident that a solution will eventually be found.

In the meantime, the German continues to train normally under Hansi Flick at the Ciutat Esportiva while waiting for clarity over his future.

Ajax considering every possible outcome

The growing concern for Barcelona is that Ajax will not wait indefinitely.

Although the Dutch club have not set a firm deadline for completing the deal, their patience is not unlimited. They are now considering both possible scenarios: completing the agreed loan or walking away from the operation entirely.

That possibility would be an unwelcome complication for Barca. Ter Stegen’s departure is part of the club’s summer planning, and having an agreement collapse over issues away from the sporting side would leave another important situation unresolved.

Ajax coach Michel had already ruled out having Ter Stegen available for their Conference League fixture on July 23, with the goalkeeper lacking sufficient adaptation time and still awaiting medical clearance.

For Barcelona, the priority is now to get the operation over the line before Ajax decide they have waited long enough. The sporting agreement appears to be in place, but until the remaining fiscal issues are resolved, Ter Stegen remains a Barca player and an increasingly complicated summer exit remains unfinished.
