Al Hilal have confirmed Simone Inzaghi as their new manager ahead of the Roshn Saudi League club’s participation at this month’s FIFA Club World Cup.
The hugely decorated Italian, who on Saturday coached Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final, has signed a two-year contract that runs until the end of the 2026-27 season. He replaces Jorge Jesus, who parted company with the 2023-24 RSL champions last month.
Al Hilal club legend Mohammed Al Shalhoub was in interim charge until the end of the season, leading the Riyadh side to a runner-up finish – and to qualification for the 2025-26 AFC Champions League Elite.
Inzaghi, 49, arrives in the RSL on the back of four superb years as Inter Milan manager. During that time, he guided the club to the 2023-24 Serie A title, two Coppa Italia crowns and a trio of Italian Super Cup successes.
Like this season, his Inter side also finished runners-up in the UEFA Champions League in 2023.
Having begun his management career with Lazio, Inzaghi led that club to Coppa Italia and Super Cup (twice) titles, too. With Inter, he has been named both Serie A Coach of the Year and Serie A Most Valuable Coach.
Appointed at Al Hilal early on Thursday, Inzaghi takes charge of the RSL outfit two weeks out from their opening Group H match at the expanded FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, against record-winners Real Madrid.
