Alavés supporters delivered a striking show of solidarity to Real Sociedad ahead of the Copa del Rey final, urging them to ‘Ekarri Kopa’. With six days until Seville, the gesture cut through a subdued night.
In the morning they laid flowers at the Aitor Zabaleta memorial by the stadium, then at the start of the second half unfurled a giant banner reading: ‘Aitor Zabaletagatik, ekarri kopa’. According to Diario Vasco, the home crowd responded with an ovation of around two minutes.
Lucas Boyé’s 87th minute goal had dampened what was set to be a pre final celebration. After full time, there was no expected club led send off or call to arms.
Optimism endures for a fourth Copa del Rey. On Monday the club will release the remaining 87 tickets for the Real end at La Cartuja, available to members who missed out in the draw.
They are returns from the 26,100 already allocated, so are among the priciest. Those who have paid will receive an email from the RFEF on Monday or Tuesday with a link to its app and access codes to download their ticket and confirm their seat.
Travel plans are in full swing, from bags and scarves to a supporter cycling south, Unai San Sebastián, now in Valladolid. Others are moving to intermediate stops.
A WhatsApp message outlining fan zone acts for Saturday 18 is circulating. Acts mentioned include DJs Álex del Toro and Txolas, bands Zeatikez, Tienez, Nogen, Brigade Loco and Sune, singer Janus Lester and the txaranga Ilargi. The club will set out details at a press conference, saying much of the list is accurate though not exact, and confirming there will be a kalejira and live match screening.
Supporters’ group Bultzada staged a pre match gathering to back Amaya Zabarte, injured before the PSG game in 2024, near the topo station. A banner in Basque read: ‘Poliziaren inpunitatearen aurka: eutsi Amaya, zurekin gaude’, and Zabarte and her husband attended.
