Kristjan Asllani says that Inter Milan are “enjoying being top of the table” after their 1-0 Serie A win over Genoa today.

The Albanian international spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after this evening’s match. He also spoke about his teammate Hakan Calhanoglu.

Inter Milan have overtaken Napoli at the top of the Serie A table for the time being.

The Nerazzurri did so with a 1-0 win over Genoa at the San Siro.

This was a vitally necessary win for Inter to bounce back from their Derby d’Italia loss to Juventus last Sunday.

And it is also a result that puts the pressure right back on league leaders Napoli. The Partenopei face Como tomorrow afternoon.

Then, it’s the big one. Next Saturday, Inter and Napoli go head-to-head at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in a match that has the feel of a potential title-decider.

Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani called this evening’s opponent Genoa a “really well-organized, well-coached team.”

“They came to the San Siro to play a great match,” continued the 23-year-old.

“We’re happy with our performance. We needed to have a lot of patience, because these points were very important.”

Asllani noted that “At the moment, we’re top of the table.”

“Because Napoli play tomorrow at 12.30. But at the moment, we’re enjoying this evening.”

Meanwhile, Asllani made clear that it is “definitely not a burden” to have Hakan Calhanoglu as a teammate in the same position as him.

“Because it’s true that I don’t play much. But in this team, when you’re called into action, you have to do well.”

“As I’ve always said, I also have to take my own responsibilities.”

“But having Hakan ahead of you can never be a burden,” Asllani insisted. “I can only learn from him.”
