Nigeria national team midfielder Alex Iwobi has revealed the secret behind his team's red-hot form at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

The Super Eagles are one of tournament favorites, having scored 14 goals and only conceded four - two against Tunisia and each against Tanzania and Uganda in the group stages.

When quizzed on what makes Nigeria so deadly in this nations cup edition, Iwobi attributed the rich vein of fine form to the comradery in the Super Eagles' camp.

“For me I feel like the difference is the sense of brotherhood, the family environment that we have created for each other. Of course, the previous AFCONs we've done really well, the team has been so strong, but at the same time the team was young and we were learning about each other,” he said.

"I feel like right now everybody is entering their prime, everyone is doing well respectively for their clubs and you can see the joy and the chemistry that we have when we are playing for our country.

"It's not just on the pitch, also off the pitch, there's a big unity, there's a big family and it starts from the coach [Eric Chelle] as well as the players, like he's brought that brotherhood and it's nice because it's like we're one big family.

The Fulham midfield maestro continued: "You can see it on the pitch that we are fighting for each other, so I feel like that's bringing out the best, not just in me, but all the players.

Nigeria will lock horns with host nation Morocco in a blockbuster semi-final showdown at Prince Moulay Abdallah Stadium in Rabat on Wednesday, 14 January (22h00).
