Alex Santana misses Corinthians trip to Bahia with thigh issue | OneFootball

Corinthians visit Bahia on Sunday at 16:00 at Arena Fonte Nova in round 20 of the Campeonato Brasileiro, but Alex Santana misses out with a thigh issue and has remained in São Paulo. According to Meu Timao, Fernando Diniz did not name him in the travelling squad.

Like left-back Matheus Bidu, the midfielder did not join the group that landed in Salvador on Saturday night, giving Diniz another absentee.

In 2026, Alex Santana has played only two matches. He spent much of the campaign away from the first team under former coach Dorival Júnior after returning from a loan at Grêmio at the start of the year.

After Diniz arrived in April, he was reinstated but used sparingly. His last official outing for Corinthians was on 3 May, a 2-1 defeat to Mirassol at Estádio Campos Maia in round 14.

Since then he has featured only in a friendly against FC Cascavel during the World Cup break, a 1-1 draw at Estádio Olímpico Regional on 12 July.

Signed in 2024 from Athletico-PR for about two million euros, roughly R$ 12 million at the time, he has 39 appearances, 17 starts and two goals, and was part of the 2025 Paulista title squad.

He is now aiming to recover in time to be available for Wednesday at 21:00 against Athletico at Neo Química Arena in round 21.
