Harry Kane is currently playing at an exceptionally high level. The Bayern striker is currently with the English national team at the 2026 World Cup and still has a good chance of winning the title. On top of that, he has his sights set on a special milestone.
Kane has been an indispensable part of the English national team for years. There, he’s racking up game after game and goal after goal. In Saturday night’s quarterfinal against Norway, he took the field for the Three Lions for the 120th time.
With this appearance, the Bayern star tied an absolute legend of English soccer: Wayne Rooney, who has also played 120 international matches.
But that’s not the end of it for the striker. Kane is currently chasing the 125-game mark set by Peter Shilton. The former goalkeeper holds the all-time record for most appearances on the English national team.

That means Kane needs just six more games to become the sole record holder. If he stays healthy, he’ll add two more games at the World Cup. So Shilton’s record is within reach.
Incidentally, following Kane and Rooney, several legends of English soccer occupy the next spots on the list. They are David Beckham (115), Steven Gerrard (114), Bobby Moore (108), and Ashley Cole (107).

For Kane himself, however, winning the World Cup will be the main focus for now, not this record. In the tournament’s semifinal on Wednesday at 9 p.m., the English team will face Argentina and superstar Lionel Messi.
