"Joel Piroe would be a great signing for Rangers," said Ally McCoist, speaking to talkSPORT. Piroe's Leeds United future beyond this summer remains uncertain.
"He probably hasn't done as well as you'd have hoped in the Premier League, but I've seen enough of him. As a Rangers supporter, I wouldn't mind that at all."
"I think he could certainly do a job up here. I think he'd adapt to this football as well."
Piroe has slipped behind summer arrivals Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha in the No 9 pecking order. He has not started a Premier League match since August and has one FA Cup goal.
Daniel Farke sought another striker in January. With reinforcements set to be revisited this summer, and if Leeds stay up, his minutes could shrink further.
49ers Enterprises are in charge at Elland Road and remain in control at Ibrox, with Paraag Marathe vice-chairman there before stepping down. A January loan approach from fierce rivals Celtic was met with bemusement, though Leeds and Rangers run as separate operations.
If Leeds sanction an exit, a sale is likely. The club paid £12m in total, £10m plus a £2m bonus to Swansea after promotion, on a four-year deal in 2023, leaving about £3m book value and PSR profit on any fee above that.
Despite limited starts, Piroe has more than 12 Premier League outings, the 2024/25 Championship Golden Boot with 19 goals, and a Suriname debut in March. Those credentials make an offer comfortably above £3m likely.
