Vincent Kompany has won his first DFB Cup with FC Bayern. The 3-0 victory over Stuttgart was an almost perfect cup final for the Belgian

Despite a somewhat shaky first half, the final scoreboard at the Berlin Olympic Stadium showed a 3-0 win for FC Bayern. Bayern coach Vincent Kompany thought it was „wonderful“ and said in the ARD interview after the game: „We played against a strong opponent today. The first half was very even. This team always manages to raise the level. We created more chances in the second half and still defended well and stably – it was an almost perfect cup final.“

Even though it was not clear in the first half that Munich would win the game in the end, there was a confident mood in the Bayern dressing room at half-time. „All the players said at half-time: We’re so close, it can turn around,“ explained Kompany, who continued: „There were one-on-one situations where we didn’t make the right decisions. But we had the feeling that we could raise the level.“

The Belgian went on to say: „We didn’t create that many chances against us either. It was just a very tight final and in the second half we did the things we needed to do to make the difference. We ran into the spaces really well at times, then you have a good mix of activity on the ball and deep runs – that’s hard to defend against.“

Kane makes Kompany rave

Bayern’s Harry Kane is the most difficult player to defend against. The striker was once again the key man on the pitch against Stuttgart, scoring three goals to fire the record cup winners to their 21st title

For his coach Vincent Kompany, however, it’s not just the goals that are impressive, as he also „makes the tackle at the corner flag“. Kompany said: „It’s not just his quality. Of course it’s outstanding, but it’s also his personality for the group. I have no idea how you can score so many goals in your career and still just look like one of them.“

Because it’s always like that with Kane: „At some point at the end you have the feeling: Did he score today? And then we say: Yes, three times. That’s madness!“
