Manchester United recorded back-to-back home wins under Ruben Amorim for the first time last Saturday as they saw off Chelsea 2-1 in their previous Premier League game at Old Trafford.

It was a return to route one football that saw the three points remain in Manchester, with the backline standing tall at times.

Prior to the game, most of the discourse was surrounding Alejandro Garnacho’s return to Old Trafford after he jumped ship in the summer.

He not only spoke against the head coach, but also sullied the club’s name with frequent social media outbursts. Despite not even coming on from the bench, the Argentine received quite the hostile reception as expected.

Social media abuse

And following the game, Amad risked the ire of the fans by uploading a picture of him and the former Carrington graduate on his social media.

What followed was immense fan backlash, and abuse, and things got so out of hand that the Ivorian was forced to delete his posts on Instagram.

The Sun have now revealed that United have stepped in to offer the 23-year-old support with staff from the club checking in on him on Monday.

As per the report, Amad is fine as he is made of stronger stuff owing to a difficult childhood.

United offer support

“Manchester United have offered Amad Diallo support after the winger suffered online abuse. The Red Devils winger was bombarded with abusive messages after he shared a picture with former teammate Alejandro Garnacho following Saturday’s 2-1 Premier League win over Chelsea.

“The 23-year-old deleted every Instagram post on his account in response to the online abuse and United staff checked in on his well-being on Monday.

“Club sources accepted the Instagram upload was naive but stressed that Amad is okay in the wake of the ordeal. United have found the Ivory Coast international to be a resilient character, owed to his difficult upbringing.”

Hopefully, Amad can overcome this and come out fighting in the next game against Brentford on Saturday.

The ex-Atalanta ace has not been the same force as last season, and fans and Amorim will be hoping to see more from him moving forward.
