With the transfer window hours from closing, América are racing to finalise reinforcements. According to Americayya.net, they are close to signing Fluminense left-back Gabriel Fuentes.

Yesterday it emerged the club were also near a deal for midfielder Vinicius Lima from Fluminense.

Talks are described as very advanced and the arrivals of both players could be confirmed in the coming hours or by Monday at the latest.

The Liga MX registration deadline is Monday at 11:59pm, the final moment to sign and register players.

Cristian Borja has been the undisputed starter at left-back. Ralph Orquín was brought back last tournament to compete but received limited minutes after the staff judged him short of requirements.

He remained in the squad this season but chose not to renew his contract to pursue a summer move to Europe. That decision led the staff to exclude him, leaving Borja as the only left-back.

Fuentes would arrive to challenge for the role and could also be used in midfield, not his natural position, though he has played there.
