An American consortium has made an offer of around €2bn to buy Napoli, but owner Aurelio De Laurentiis is not selling for now, according to The Athletic.

Underdog Global Partners lodged the bid and has been in negotiations with the De Laurentiis family for six months. The group’s stated aim is to continue De Laurentiis’s work at the club.

De Laurentiis has owned Napoli since 2004, taking the club from the third tier back to Serie A within four years. He paid less than 2% of the current offer at the time and has since overseen title wins in 2023 and 2025.

Despite his stance, UGP and its backers have continued talks, which began six months ago, about a potential takeover.

The consortium is seeking the club to bolster its pitch for a future NBA Europe franchise. It would also commit to infrastructure investment, including a complete renovation of the Stadio Diego Maradona.
