The past 24-48 hours have been a roller-coaster of sorts as far as Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid and the Brazil national team are concerned.

Earlier in the week, everything appeared set for the current Real Madrid boss to be appointed as the next Selecao manager with an agreement having been reached.

However, things unravelled on Tuesday night, though, with the move suddenly coming to the brink of collapse for multiple reasons.

Real Madrid’s reluctance to pay Ancelotti his wages for the remaining year of his contract, Brazil’s unwillingness to wait until after the FIFA Club World Cup to hire him and the Italian’s hesitation about a potential move to South America all contributed to the saga.

Talks still ongoing

Despite reports suggesting that the move was as good as over, a fresh update from journalist Ramon Alvarez states that Ancelotti and his camp still remain in conversations with the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF).

As per the report, the Real Madrid boss and the CBF are working on tweaking the contract terms that were previously agreed and that a move is still a possibility.

Furthermore, Ancelotti does not expect any roadblocks from Real Madrid’s part over his departure.

A meeting is set to take place between the Spanish capital giants and the manager later today to try and sort out whatever issues are so that the move can go ahead without any hitches.

The same has been corroborated by ESPN Brazil, who report that the CBF considers today’s meeting between Madrid and Ancelotti as an ultimatum.

Ancelotti, for his part, remains hopeful that there will be problems in finalising the terms of his departure from Real Madrid and as such the chances of him joining Brazil as their next manager continue to exist.
