Former Manchester United star Ander Herrera still has a major attachment to the club.
The midfielder moved to Manchester United in the summer of 2014 during Louis van Gaal’s first summer in charge.
Herrera played for Real Zaragoza before moving to Athletic Club in 2011.
After his transfer to Manchester United in 2014, the Spaniard spent five seasons at the club until 2019.
During his time at the club, he won the FA Cup, League Cup, and the Europa League titles.
The combative midfielder played 189 times for the club, scoring 20 goals in all competitions.
After leaving the club as a free agent in 2019, he spent three seasons at Paris Saint-Germain, winning two league titles and finishing as runner-up in the Champions League.
He then returned to Athletic Club in 2022 before spending the last two campaigns with Boca Juniors in Argentina. Herrera left the Argentines earlier this month.
Despite not coming from the area or even growing up a supporter of the club, Herrera was never shy about showing his affection for Manchester United.
Commenting on his time at the club, the Spanish international stated, “what an honour it was to wear that jersey.”
On another occasion, he also asserted, “I love the club. It is my club in England. I want United to win every game.”
The club’s official website has also shown another example of how Herrera still clearly has the club in his heart.
In a video posted on X, Herrera can be seen playing with friends on a pitch donning a red Manchester United home shirt.
He is showcasing his midfield skills on the pitch in a team of friends all wearing the famous red devil on their shirt.
The midfielder is currently a free agent, and the 36-year-old will surely be hoping to sort his future out as soon as possible for the upcoming season.
