André Luiz close to Benfica as Rio Ave line up replacement | OneFootball

André Luiz is edging closer to joining Benfica, with the move gathering pace as Rio Ave secure a direct replacement. According to Glorioso 1904, the winger’s switch to Benfica is considered imminent and could be completed soon.

Diogo Bezerra has arrived in Vila do Conde from OFK Beograd to replace him. The signing is intended to cover the vacancy in attack once the first-choice wide man departs.

Talks between Benfica and Rio Ave are progressing well and are close to being finalised. The fee is set to be around 15 million euros including add-ons, with Rio Ave to keep a significant share of any future sale.

If negotiations falter, Benfica have Wesley on their shortlist as an alternative. Al Nassr coach Jorge Jesus has recently commented on Benfica’s interest in the youngster, though Rui Costa’s priority remains André Luiz.

This season for Rio Ave, André Luiz, valued at 4 million euros, has made 18 appearances, 17 in Liga Portugal Betclic and one in the Taça de Portugal. Across 1,390 minutes he has scored seven goals and provided five assists. He is under contract until June 2029.
