Benfica have hardened their stance over Andreas Schjelderup and are no longer entertaining offers at the previously cited 40 million euros. The 22-year-old winger has yet to sign a new deal and is weighing up a summer exit.
According to Record, Schjelderup has not responded to Rui Costa’s renewal proposal and wants to leave in this window, believing this is a key stage of his career and an opportunity he does not want to miss.
Even so, he is not minded to force a move. If no agreement is reached, he will remain at Benfica and see out a contract that runs to 2028.
Benfica’s hierarchy, led by Rui Costa, are seeking to secure one of their most valuable assets. A renewal to 2031 is on the table, a three-season extension with a significant salary uplift worth 18 million euros in total.
Interest in the winger remains high, with several clubs monitoring him and some ready to exceed the 40 million euros mark.
