Andressa Alves apologises to Fiel after Corinthians’ Copa do Brasil exit | OneFootball

Corinthians were beaten 1-0 by Ferroviária at Arena Fonte Luminosa on Monday night, exiting the Copa do Brasil Feminina in the last 16. After the defeat, Andressa Alves apologised to the Fiel on social media and pledged the team would keep working to bring joy this season.

Late on, Andressa flicked in a superb backheel that appeared to level the match, but it was ruled out for offside. The single-goal loss confirmed Corinthians’ elimination.

In an Instagram Stories message, she said it was hard to find words and apologised, noting they fought to the end but it was not enough. She expressed sadness and vowed the squad would demand more of themselves, work hard and overcome obstacles with humility. She added the season is long and they aim to deliver many joys to supporters, their greatest strength.

The setback extends a run of four straight official competitions without a trophy. The sequence began at the end of 2025 with a Paulista Feminino final defeat to Palmeiras. In 2026 they were runners-up in the Copa das Campeãs, the Women’s Club World Cup, losing 3-2 after extra time to Arsenal at the Emirates in London, then again finished second in the Supercopa Feminina against Palmeiras after a 1-1 draw at Arena Barueri and a 5-4 loss on penalties.

Corinthians still have three title shots this year. They lead the Campeonato Brasileiro with 28 points as the knockout phase nears and are second in the Paulista on seven points, two behind Ferroviária. They will also play the Libertadores Feminina in October in Ecuador, seeking a seventh continental crown.

Andressa has four goals and eight assists in 19 games in 2026, joint-top provider with Gabi Zanotti. Corinthians host Vitória at the Fazendinha on Sunday at 11:00 in the 13th round of the Brasileiro.
