Nottingham Forest are poised to take on Arsenal this weekend, but there will be a new manager in the dugout. Leading up to the conclusion of the international break, Nuno Espirito Santo was relieved of his duties following a tense few months at the club. The Portuguese coach fell out with the owner, while he had a strained relationship with Global Head of Football Edu Gaspar. The man that guided Spurs to a long-awaited trophy last season was swiftly appointed and his first game is against Arsenal.
As per the Daily Mail, Postecoglou used his first meeting to offer his players a clean slate after a tricky start to the season. He stressed that everyone has an opportunity to feature against the Gunners in what is quickly looking like an even trickier encounter from an Arsenal perspective. Looking at their recent run of results, Arsenal would have headed into the tie with full belief. Forest failed to win their last two league games, while they capitulated against a poor West Ham side last time out, losing 3-0 via some late goals. However, the arrival of a new manager could change the trajectory of their campaign and Arsenal could potentially fall foul as a result. The report also revealed that the Australian is unlikely to overhaul their playing style initially, but there will necessarily be certain tweaks.

Known for his daring style of play, Ange Postecoglou helped Spurs to end their trophy drought last season. Even though the clash on Saturday has become a more tricky proposition, Mikel Arteta and Arsenal could find joy against Postecoglou’s system. Nottingham Forest were primarily a defensive minded team under Espirito Santo and any drastic change to that system could leave them vulnerable at the weekend. As seen during his spell with Spurs, he hardly ever changes his style of play, leading to a sometimes chaotic brand of football. Having the home advantage and players on top form, Arsenal are in a strong position to return to winning terms, but we will have to wait and see.
What do you think Gooners?
