La Liga giants Barcelona have this week seen another member of the club’s shortlist for reinforcements out wide taken firmly off the market.
This comes amid confirmation that Rafael Leão will not be departing AC Milan this summer.
The ‘winger debate’ has of course returned to the forefront of the headlines in Catalunya’s capital with a bang over recent days.
This comes after priority Barca target Nico Williams out of the blue opted to put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with Athletic Club.
Deco and co, in turn, have been forced to seek out alternative arrangements, with the aforementioned Rafael Leão one such player to have seen his Camp Nou links reignited.
As alluded to above, however, like Nico, the Portuguese will not be Barcelona-bound this summer.
As confirmed by new Milan boss Max Allegri, despite claims that Leão could be available on the market for the right price, the gifted attacker features centrally in his plans at San Siro:
“I’ve spoken to him and he’s a great guy. I am clear that he is going to be an important player for us this season.
“I’m sure I’m going to be able to get more out of him this season. He has matured and is reaching the age where players perform more and better. We are convinced that Rafa Leão is going to give his best and he is going to be a very important player for us.”
