Anthony Lopes resumed training with Angers on Tuesday after a late withdrawal from the 2-3 friendly defeat to Le Mans because of a right thumb problem, according to L'Équipe.
The goalkeeper worked at La Baumette without gloves, his right hand strapped. Head coach Stéphane Gilli said medical checks were reassuring, with no fracture or ligament damage, and that he would be eased back across the week.
Lopes explained he hurt the first phalanx of his right thumb early in the warm-up and, as a precaution, the decision was taken not to force it or risk aggravation.
He intends to step up progressively in the coming days, with the aim of playing 90 minutes on Saturday when Angers face Lorient in their next pre-season game.
Lorient are now led by former Angers head coach Alexandre Dujeux.
