Manchester United played out an eight-goal thriller against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Monday night.
The home side will be rightly frustrated to bag only a point, especially after taking the lead on three separate occasions.
It was Antoine Semenyo who fired home the first equaliser. A brilliant run and finish showed exactly why so many teams are chasing the Ghanaian’s signature.
The Red Devils are among those clubs, and as previously relayed by The Peoples Person, INEOS are prepared to pay his £65 million release clause in January.
However, it will be far from easy given the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur remain hot on his trail as well.
As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, United and City contacted the Cherries in the last 48 hours to find out their intentions with their star attacker.
“Tottenham are really interested but a lot will depend on what the player wants to do. This week, both Manchester United and Manchester City called to understand the situation of Semenyo.
“On Monday and Tuesday, the calls took place. £65 million is his release clause. Liverpool had called back in November.
“United are genuinely interested but they had spent a lot of money in the summer to sign their three attackers — Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko.
“So we have to see whether they can afford the sum in January. More than money and finances, the player will ultimately decide where he wants to go.”
With Amad and Bryan Mbeumo set to be away for AFCON, bringing in the versatile Antoine Semenyo would be a great way to offset those losses.
He is the third top-scorer in the division this campaign, and can play as a No.10 and wingback, which would suit Amorim’s requirements down to the T.
However, what United need most right now is a defensive midfielder. INEOS will take the final call.
