Anton Stach has become the latest Leeds United footballer to launch a YouTube channel, joining team-mate Largie Ramazani amid a growing Premier League trend led by Erling Haaland.
According to Leeds Live, the club take a relaxed view of player content, although any filming at Thorp Arch is reviewed, and phones are barred during meetings and training with fines possible. Similar limits apply on matchdays, so do not expect a GoPro at Elland Road.
Stach’s debut upload last week drew nearly 40,000 views and about 6,000 subscribers. Ramazani launched his profile a month earlier, has three videos and nearly 2,000 subscribers. Georginio Rutter continues to post for 7,830 subscribers, from Pokémon and horses to mini-documentaries.
YouTube’s reach is vast, with one billion hours watched daily and around two point seven billion monthly visitors.
YouTuber Ger Lynch, whose Leeds-focused channel has more than 73,000 subscribers, says it helps fans feel closer to players but can draw criticism if form dips or results sour.
James Maddison has charted his cruciate recovery, while Erling Haaland, who launched in October, has mixed in skits and a Sidemen collaboration that pushed him past four million subscribers. Those videos arrived soon after he missed Manchester City’s trip to Elland Road through injury.
Former goalkeeper Ben Foster mounted a camera in his Watford goal during the pandemic, before authorities tightened broadcast permissions after promotion. He later pivoted to other content, then post-retirement moved into a Spotify podcast and Amazon Prime interviews.
