In the wake of last Wednesday’s tough 3-0 UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg loss at Real Madrid, Pep Guardiola’s side are back in Premier League action on Saturday evening.

City travel to tackle West Ham United at the London Stadium (20.00 UK) seeking to both quickly bounce back and so maintain the title pressure on league leaders Arsenal.

That’s then followed by next Tuesday’s huge European second leg decider at home to Real Madrid at the Etihad with a place in the Champions League quarter-finals at stake.

And a pivotal week is then rounded off on Sunday, March 21 when the Blues take on Arsenal at Wembley in one of the most eagerly-anticipated Carabao Cup finals in years.

It’s a demanding but also hugely exciting prospect for everyone at the Club.

And for Nunes, it also affords the squad the perfect opportunity to remind everyone both of the technical quality and supreme mental strength that has been the hallmark of Pep’s City for the best part of a decade.

“It’s tough, but now we have to play the [West Ham United] game first and then we’ll prepare for the Real Madrid game here at home to try and qualify,” Nunes stressed.

“That’s the only way we can look at it.

“We’ve seen these kinds of results happen in similar situations before in the Champions League and we know that anything is possible.

“A game is a game, and anything can happen.

“I’m sure that we’ll go in with the mentality to try and win knowing that it’s difficult, but it’s not impossible.

“It’s the part of the season which is the most exciting.

“Everyone wants to play in these kinds of games.

“We know this is the part where you win, but the beginning is also important for us to be here in the end.

“This is where the pressure is on and where the big teams step up.

“We need to be very consistent and focus on winning every game at a time.

“When you have three days in between two games, you only have one day scratching your head.

“Of course, you have to feel and think about it – not overthink – but genuinely think what went wrong, to learn and to not make same mistakes we made.”
