Chelsea have clinched a second trophy in as many months after beating Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final.
Just weeks after winning the Conference League at a canter, the Blues took apart the Champions League winners PSG in New York on Sunday thanks to a first-half brace from Cole Palmer and a goal from summer signing Joao Pedro.
The expanded Club World Cup tournament has proven a huge money-spinner for Chelsea, having racked up a staggering £80million in prize money prior to the final, they have pocketed a further £7.5m by beating the odds to lift the trophy.
It caps off a stunning first season for Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca, who also guided his team back into the Champions League with a fourth-place finish in the Premier League along with their Conference League triumph.
Chelsea opted against a trophy parade for their third-tier European triumph, and fans will reportedly be denied another chance to see some silverware.
No. According to BBC Sport, there will be no trophy parade for Chelsea winnning the Club World Cup.
Players are reportedly unwilling to further delay their much-needed holidays, which any planned trophy parade would require as the squad and staff would need to fly back to London before presenting the trophy early next week.
The new Premier League season begins in five weeks’ time and the current squad out in the United States already have holidays planned with families, who are attending the game ahead of a quick getaway.
Chelsea’s next game after Sunday’s Club World Cup final is on August 8, as they play Bayer Leverkusen at Stamford Bridge in their first pre-season friendly. That would be the first opportunity for the club to present the trophies, won to fans.
