Argentina will have three referees at a World Cup for the first time, with Yael Falcón Pérez, Facundo Tello and Darío Herrera selected by world football's governing body for the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
According to SuperDepor.com, it will be a first World Cup for Falcón Pérez and Herrera, while Tello previously officiated at Qatar 2022.
In that edition he took charge of Switzerland v Cameroon and Portugal v South Korea in the group stage, then Morocco v Portugal in the quarter-finals.
Countries historically sent one or two referees. With more teams involved and more matches, the number of officials has been increased.
Juan Pablo Belatti, Maximiliano del Yesso, Gabriel Chade, Facundo Rodríguez and Cristian Navarro will serve as assistant referees.
Hernán Mastránelo will work on VAR.
In recent days Tello suffered a knee injury during the play-off between Congo and Jamaica and left the field in tears, although it was later confirmed as not serious. He was replaced on the day by Herrera, who had been the fourth official.
