Defender Tomas Palacios arrives in Milan today, with his medicals on a move to Inter Milan set for tomorrow.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Now it is only a matter of time. Inter have everything in place to sign 21-year-old Argentina Under-20 international Palacios.

Palacios is the player who Inter have settled on as their defensive reinforcement for the summer transfer window.

There had been plenty of profiles that the Nerazzurri had considered.

There had been the idea of an experienced stopgap solution on a free transfer. The Nerazzurri considered the likes of Ricardo Rodriguez and Mario Hermoso.

Then, Inter had reportedly been on the verge of a deal for defender Juan Cabal before he instead joined Juventus.

Meanwhile the likes of Zenit St. Petersburg’s Robert Renan, Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior, and Genoa’s Johan Vazquez have also been on the Nerazzurri’s radar.

More recently, links have emerged to Nantes defender Nathan Zeze, Dinamo Zagreb defender Mauro Perkovic, and Valencia defender Yarek Gasiorowski.

However, after considering all these potential targets, Palacios is the player Inter have decided upon.

Palacios is a player who checks all of the boxes that Inter have been looking for.

The Argentine is a left-footed defender, and has experience playing on the left of a back three.

That means that Palacios should be able to get up to speed as Alessandro Bastoni’s deputy in Inter’s defense.

And Palacios is 21 years of age. This means that he is right in the age profile sought by Inter owners Oaktree Capital, who want to emphasize building around younger players.

Inter have been negotiating in the last week and change to get a deal done for Palacios.

The Nerazzurri will pay a fee of €6.5 million, which will be between Talleres and Independiente Rivadivia.

Then, there will be a potential €4.5 million in add-ons.

Lastly, the Gazzetta report, there will also be a sell-on fee of 10%. That is essentially the last deal that the clubs have been negotiating.

And everything is in place. Palacios has flown to Milan from Argentina.

And tomorrow will be the day for the 21-year-old to complete his move.

Palacios will undergo his medicals. Then, he can sign his contract and become an Inter player.
