Reds host Spurs looking to turn tie around on Thursday night
Arne Slot has confirmed Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss Thursday night’s Carabao Cup meeting with Tottenham.
The defender asked to be withdrawn following a strain as Liverpool beat Bournemouth 2-0 on Saturday to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League table.
While the Reds boss sounded hopeful the leg injury isn’t serious for the England international, Slot confirmed Alexander-Arnold will miss the visit of Spurs.
“He is going to miss tomorrow and we have to see if he can play Sunday but he is not available tomorrow,” said Slot on Wednesday.
“I think you saw he left the pitch with a bit of a pain in his leg, so that is why he misses tomorrow. He is already on the pitch with the rehab coach, let's see how long it takes."
Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez were all back on the bench for the win over the Cherries, while Joe Gomez is also back in Liverpool training.
Ange Postecoglou’s side hold a 1-0 lead in the semi-final after beating the Merseyside giants last month.
