An agent linked to Liverpool player defended Arne Slot amid heavy criticism as the club struggles in the Premier League this season.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is facing growing criticism during the current season, with the Reds suffering clear decline in results and performance.

After winning the Premier League title in Slot’s first year in charge, Liverpool fallen away badly in the 2025 /26 campaign.

The team currently sit 5th in the league table and are no longer in the title race raising serious questions about their direction.

Reports suggested that Liverpool’s board may consider replacing Slot at the end of the season, with Xabi Alonso mentioned as possible successor.

Agent calls criticism “Crazy”

Despite the pressure, an agent representing one of Liverpool’s players speaking anonymously to the Daily Mail, strongly defended the Dutch coach.

The agent said it would be “madness” to dismiss Slot so quickly stressing that the manager is trying to rebuild the squad and needs time to improve the situation.

He explained that Slot’s style is different from former coach Jurgen Klopp but insisted that this should not be treated as negative.

Slot accepts he will be judged on this season

Slot has also responded to the growing debate about his future. The Liverpool coach admitted it is fair for people to focus only on the current campaign rather than last season’s title success.

He said that managers must accept criticism when results are not good enough and added that even winning trophies does not protect coach from being judged harshly in the following season.

Slot reminded his players earlier in the season that they had to move on from last year’s achievements and start fresh.
