Arsenal and Chelsea are both in contact with the representatives of Atlético Madrid striker Julian Alvarez ahead of summer moves.

Alvarez is a top target for the London rivals and both have been encouraged by feedback from the player’s team.

is understood Atletico Madrid are willing to sell for a fee below £100m, a price tag the Premier League teams are prepared to meet. The Argentina international has scored 40 goals in 89 games since joining Atletico from Manchester City in 2024.

Arsenal and Chelsea are not alone in pursuing the player. TEAMtalk are reporting that both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested, with the former Alvarez’s preferred destination.

However, it’s unclear whether the La Liga champions could meet Atletico’s asking price amid their ongoing economic challenges.

Alvarez impressed during a previous spell in the Premier League. He scored 36 times for Manchester City over two-and-a-half seasons at the Etihad and won a wealth of honours, including a 2022/23 treble under Pep Guardiola.
