Manchester City are closing in on a deal for Nottingham Forest and England midfielder Elliot Anderson, ahead of the World Cup.
The 23-year-old is one of the most sought-after players this summer, having drawn interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and particularly Manchester United. However, BBC report that it is City who are now in pole position ahead of their rivals.
Forest value the midfielder highly and will search for a fee in excess of £100 million to allow him to leave. City are keen to get the deal done ahead of the World Cup, where Anderson could play a starring role for Thomas Tuchel’s England.
City could also consider strengthening their midfield with the signing of Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez. Following Pep Guardiola’s departure, it is understood that Enzo Maresca will be the man to take up the reins at the Etihad. Sky Germany say that the Italian coach is desperate to bring his former player with him to Manchester.
The 25-year-old has seemingly wanted away from Stamford Bridge for some time. Both Real Madrid and PSG are also said to be eyeing the Argentina international. Chelsea will need to recoup as much of the £106 million they spent on Fernandez as possible.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are stepping up their interest in England star Morgan Rogers. Mikel Arteta is believed to be personally pushing for the move, according to the Express. With United and Chelsea also both interested, Aston Villa will want at least £80 million for the attacker.
Another England talent who could be on the move this summer is Anthony Gordon. Newcastle could part ways with the winger after missing out on European football. He is said to have long-term admirers in both Arsenal and Bayern Munich. However, the Sun report that Barcelona have opened talks for the forward.
Despite this, the Catalan side do have other options under consideration. These include fellow Arsenal target Julian Alvarez, and United loanee Marcus Rashford.
