Bukayo Saka has suggested that Viktor Gyokeres could take penalties for Arsenal in the future.
Saka wrapped up a comfortable 2-0 win over West Ham on Saturday by scoring from the penalty spot, after Jurrien Timber was fouled.
It was a surprise in some quarters that Saka took the spot kick, with Arsenal having forked out over £60million on summer signing Gyokeres.
Saka was considered the first-choice penalty taker for the Gunners last season, but also passed the responsibility around with the likes of Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz also taking spot kicks.
And Saka has not ruled out Gyokeres taking future penalties for Arsenal.
“We’ll keep our conversations in the house for now,” he said. “I won’t say much more. When I grabbed the ball I wanted to take it, so that was my thoughts at the moment.”
Gyokeres failed to find the net against West Ham, drawing a blank for the sixth game in a row, but Saka is not worried.
“I think Viktor’s playing really, really well,” he said. “There’s no doubt he’s going to score goals.
“What he’s bringing to this team, us as his team-mates, we’re so grateful for what he does, how he holds the ball, how he makes the runs, the threat he gives us.
“He’s a big part in the reason why we’re winning these games. His goals will come. We know that, we believe that and we believe in him.
“I don’t think there’s any doubts. He’s still up, he’s still happy and he’s still giving his best every game.”
