Arsenal stars Gabriel Magalhaes and Martin Odegaard were on opposing sides as Brazil took on Norway in the World Cup round of 16 yesterday.
The pair helped Arsenal win the Premier League last season, but there was no love lost between them in New Jersey.
The Gunners centre-back was unhappy with his club teammate in the closing stages of the game, which eventually ended in a 2-1 defeat for the South Americans.
He pointed a finger at Odegaard during a scuffle between both teams.
The Arsenal captain and his teammates had triggered the Brazilians, who were desperate to chase the game and get a result, with their passing.
Gabriel’s World Cup ended on a disappointing note, but Odegaard will hope to go all the way and win the tournament.
Norway face England in the quarter-final on Saturday, and the Gunners skipper will need to stop another of his Arsenal teammates – Declan Rice – to advance to the semi-final.
The Three Lions defeated Mexico with ten players in the early hours of today, putting in a resolute performance in their 3-2 victory.
Another fierce game awaits when they take on Norway, and Odegaard and his compatriots will pull out all the stops to secure victory.
