Arsenal forward suffers suspected ACL injury | OneFootball

Gabriel Jesus has suffered a suspected ACL rupture, with further specialist reviews planned today to establish the extent of the problem.

David Ornstein reports for The Athletic that Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus is set for a long spell out of action after a suspected ACL rupture.

Further specialist reviews are planned with the striker today to establish the full extent of the problem, but Arsenal fans will be well aware that ACL injuries generally mean an early end to the season for the player.

Jesus has had plenty of knee issues with Arsenal in the past, but generally it was his right knee causing the problems and requiring surgery in 2022. This time around, it’s his left knee.

Jesus was forced off after just 40 minutes against Manchester United on Sunday, requiring a stretcher to leave the field of play.

“I don’t want to confirm anything until we have the final report this afternoon,” Mikel Arteta said in his press conference on Tuesday morning.

“I think it’s the doctor’s job to do that. But we were very worried straight away after the game (on Sunday) and we are very worried today.”

The initial signs didn’t look good, with Physio Scout reporting on Twitter that footage of the injury showed a “collapse of the knee, pivoting and a tibia bone shift”, which “usually points towards an ACL injury”.

Sadly, it seems like it’s just a wait now for the bad news to be confirmed.
