Arsenal have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen youngster Christian Kofane.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg claims that Bayern Munich will not be in the race for Kofane this summer.
They are focused on extending Harry Kane’s contract beyond 2027.
Leverkusen are pushing to sell the Cameroon international for around €60 millio, and the Premier League is likely to be his next destination.
The 19-year-old joined Leverkusen from Spanish club Albacete last summer. He has recorded seven goals and eight assists across all competitions, despite not being a regular in the starting XI.
Kofane also impressed at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring twice in four matches. He became the youngest goalscorer for Cameroon since Samuel Eto’o.
He is clinical in front of goal, holds up the ball well, can combine with teammates and likes to take long-range shots.
Kofane took the opportunity to impress Arsenal manager Mike Arteta in the Champions League round of 16, despite Leverkusen losing 3-1 on aggregate.
Arsenal signed Piero Hincapie from Leverkusen last summer and will be hoping to leverage that relationship to secure Kofane’s services.
The Gunners could make changes to their attacking personnel this summer due to uncertainty over the futures of Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli.
These changes could pave the way for Kofane and another forward signing.
